 Progressions :

Progressions represent an observation in which one day corresponds to one year. That is, if a person is born on January 1, the next day, which corresponds to January 2 on the ephemeris, will represent a year in their life, two days = two years, three days = three years, and so on.

In this article, we have chosen to share our views on transits and progressions.

Some astrologers use all the planets as the influence of the solar arc on an individual. Although opinions differ, the progressions of the planets as a whole have a definite value, the question is rather what affinity we give to the different progressions.

In our opinion, the progressed Moon occupies the first place of all the progressions. Then the Sun, because it is inseparable from the Moon, the latter reflecting the light of the Sun in the night of the emotions, of the unconscious. We can therefore say that the expression of the Moon in the horoscope and the progressed Moon convey deep inner experiences in response to the questions and demands of the Sun (Apollo, the consciousness of the day, in Greek mythology).

Secondly, the progression of the dominant planet in the chart seems to us to be important because it touches on direct relationships with the self. The progressed Ascendant and Midheaven are also to be taken into account, even if they occupy little space in the zodiac, because they also touch on the identity in its intimacy.

Although not consciously felt in this way, the position of the progressed Moon in the signs and houses challenges the link between personality and Self. The progressed Moon will make its revolution around the 12 signs of the zodiac in 27-30 years, reflecting the qualities of the 12 signs in the experience of the 12 astrological houses to realise the position of the sign and house of the progressed Sun.

Example of a progressed Moon in Sagittarius 12th house and a progressed Sun in Libra 9th house?

This is a dialogue between the Self (Sun) and the personality (Moon).

Consider that we are at the time of the solilunar New Moon in Libra 9th house. The New Moon occurs when the progressed Sun and Moon are in the same degree of the zodiac. In our example, the New Moon occurred at the 12th degree of Libra on 26 August 2017.

The New Moon is the beginning of a new 27-30 year cycle, we felt that something had changed, that the motivations of the past no longer matched what we feel now. There was a cleansing that took place during the end-of-cycle period of the 7 or 3.5 years before NM. However, after the NM, we feel confused, unclear about our new motives, we feel a new seed of meaning growing within us, but we do not yet know how this seed will blossom. The inner situation is like a rebirth, something is emerging and yet it remains in the stage of germination. During this phase, we have this youthful impulse that pushes us to a kind of instinctive, intuitive spontaneity, we perceive the path but we do not know which door to go through.

After 2.5 years, at the first crescent semi-square of the progressed Moon to the Sun, the seed of meaning begins its phase of new growth and yet it remains young, inexperienced. Sometimes the new motivations, which may be professional and/or quite spiritual, take shape, and at other times the journey seems to be blind and/or unclear. In these moments of doubt, it is necessary to reinvest the feeling of the NM period when we had this deep inspiration of a new meaning and to keep faith in it and remain determined.

It's also a time when we become more realistic and feel we have to fight to succeed. At this point, there is either a force coming from the reality of events that pushes us to invest in making progress, or we remain trapped in the traumas of a distant past and suffer the events.

5 years after NM we enter a sextile phase to the position of the progressed Sun, i.e. the progressed Moon is moving faster than the progressed Sun, so it will have taken 5 years for it to be in Sagittarius and in the 12th house at 60 degrees to the progressed Sun. things are becoming clearer and we are starting to implement our new motivation, although it is still in a vegetative growth phase.

It is at this point that we wish to reflect further, when the progressed Moon arrives in Sagittarius and the 12th house, sextile to the position of the NM in Libra in the 9th house.

As we can see from the above chart picture: the progressed Moon has left the sign of Libra, followed by Scorpio and entered the sign of Sagittarius in the 12th house. The time has come to make sense of the psychological challenges of the period received in Scorpio. A surge of optimism pushes us to seek symbolic meaning in order to expand our field of consciousness which may have been trapped in a certain lack of understanding of the Scorpio phase.

But with the progressed Moon in the 12th house, there is a redefinition of the redefinition experienced at the end of the cycle before August 26, 2022. We are given the opportunity to deepen our assessment of what is no longer relevant in our lives, what no longer makes sense. Thus, life will present before us certain fundamental needs such as the desire to withdraw from the tumult of the exterior and an impulse towards our interiority begins its work of redefinition, cleaning and metamorphosis. Here we are listening to the whisper of our progressed Sun in balance house 9 and the intention to become aware of the meaning of our life is more intense. We are interested in studying philosophy and/or mythology, researching different cultures and their histories, or making initiatory journeys, learning to live together with respect and consideration. On a global level, the question represents the meaning of the word "we".

In other words, the progression of the Solilunar New Moon from Libra 9th house to Sagittarius 12th house will have lasted about 5 years and will have potentially moved from a formal relationship (Libra) to one that questions the unconscious part with the other (Scorpio) to one that expresses and reveals a deeper and more qualitative meaning (Sagittarius).

For example, through an initiation into the symbolism of legends, fairy tales and myths of human history, an opening is made to transform the reciprocity that emerges from these stories into an integration of the meaning they reveal in our lives. Thus, the qualities of the Sun's position at the time of the New Moon in Libra h9 hide a potential that will be revealed at the time of the sextile of Sagittarius in the 12th house. And it will evolve individually and/or in relationship over the next 23-24 years around the zodiac until the next NM.

By the time of the next New Moon in Scorpio 10th house, the focus will be on a realistic and pragmatic orientation where we no longer need symbolic meaning to shape us. If we have evolved during the previous 29 year cycle of the New Moon in Libra 9th house, there will have been a gradual integration of meaning into our actions and state of being. Thus, when the NM enters 10th house Scorpio, it is expressed as a shift from a need for answers to assimilated knowledge that will need to be embodied.

Transits :

Transits represent the movement of the planets after the day/month/year of birth.

At the time of our first breath, the planets positioned themselves in the sky and drew our celestial identity card. During the 80 years of our life, the planets will continue their revolution in the sky, periodically forming aspects to the position of the natal planets. These aspects are squares, oppositions, trigons, sextiles and conjunctions. Certain transits which form aspects in square, opposition or conjunction with the ruling planet of the chart, or with the ruling planet of the sun sign or ascendant, with the Black Moon, or with a planet on the angles of the chart, such as the ascendant and the midheaven, will mark important periods in our lives.

Planetary transits tend to express themselves through external events that create an inner and psychic resonance.

A transit of Uranus in the 1st house gives us the opportunity to experience a break in patterns, either through situations where we have been dependent on a model of representation, either in a relationship with someone, or in a family or professional environment.

There can be a kind of resonance between the need for liberation and the need to achieve it by claiming our right to freedom. This can create an atmosphere of rebellion that has the potential to free us from the weight of habit and so-called rightness. It is often a transit that confronts us with the need to individualise ourselves. This word has several important meanings that we need to highlight in our article. Uranus pushes us to become ourselves, especially when it transits the Ascendant and the astrological first house. By transiting a form of dissatisfaction, the planet pushes us to find a centre of individuality in the sense that we tend to become a full-fledged individual with our faults as well as with our qualities. Uranus helps us to be authentic, but in this process the danger of falling into the trap of the ego shaping itself into its truth can take on a colour of individualism and egotism, which obviously does not have the same meaning. Thus, during this transit, Uranus puts us in a state of hyper-tension, that is to say that we can become hyper-rebellious to the point of intense stress, which in the long run will force us to detach ourselves from our patterns of functioning and to free ourselves from our certainties, from our need to be unique, singular, in short, from our mode of representation.

Whether we are dealing with progressions or transits, our own sense of truth will be oriented towards opening up to ourselves, the difference being that progressions are more intimate with a dialogue between the self and the ego, from the inside out. Transits are a dialogue between the world and the self, from the outside in.

On this subject, we can add some nuances.

Although these values ​​are correct, we can add that transits affecting a personal planet in house 12-8-4 or 6 can be felt directly from within because these houses have a direct impact on our interiority. Conversely, a progression of the Moon touching a personal planet in the sign of Aries and the 10th house, for example, can be felt directly from the outside to the inside.
